We have been in quarantine for months now, due to the threat of the COVID-19 pandemic. Although the strict quarantine and social distancing guidelines are beginning to loosen up a bit in different parts of the world, people are still opting to stay home. Indeed, it’s the best thing we can do now to ensure our safety as well as those around us. It’s our own way of helping prevent the further spread of the virus, in hopes of things going back to normal soon.
While staying home all day, every day, used to be a treat, there is only so much we can do to keep ourselves occupied. Sooner or later, we’re going to run out of movies to watch. We’ll be done reading the books we own. We’ll get tired of scrolling our social media feeds.
When boredom strikes, you’re left with a decision to make: how you will spend the rest of your time. Are you going to use it wisely? We suddenly have more free time than we did before the lockdown started, so it’s the perfect opportunity to align ourselves with our goals once more. Here are some productive things you can do to maximize your time during the quarantine.
Take small steps toward your goalsa
The lack of time is our number one enemy when it comes to working to reach our dreams. It’s so easy to get bogged down by the hustle and bustle of life that we lose time for things that really matter. Use this opportunity to get back on track toward accomplishing your goals.
Ask yourself what you’re after and take little steps to get there. If one of your goals includes buying your own home a few years from now, start researching on the buying procedure, the process of getting first-time home-buyer loans, the estimated cost of homeownership, etc. These might not help you accomplish your dreams overnight, but every day, you’re one step closer to attaining them.
Work on your resume
The threat of COVID-19 has left a lot of things in uncertainty, especially regarding our professional security. Over 100,000 businesses have shut down since March 2020, and that number is expected to continuously rise. We sincerely and strongly hope that everyone retains their sources of income during these trying times. But it’s also an opportunity to revamp our resumes.
With tons of free time on your hands, you can use it to update your CV and professional accounts. Input new information on your LinkedIn profile, redesign your resume and portfolio. It’s a great opportunity to get these documents in order for your next job hunt.
Learn a new skill
Throughout the course of our lives, it’s important that we never stop learning and improving ourselves. Take this time to learn something new and build a new skill. Take courses and do some activities that will help you master it. For sure, it will come in handy in at least one aspect of your life.
Take on a project
Sure enough, we’ve all started something in the past that we never got a chance to finish. It can be as simple as a 30-day workout, starting a blog, learning a new language, etc. Because we have tons of free time now, there’s no more excuse for delaying it! Recommit to the task and dedicate your time and efforts toward it.
The choice of whether to spend the rest of the quarantine being a couch potato or utilizing the time for self-growth and development is your crucial decision to make. But remember that it’s the perfect opportunity to work toward a more productive and fulfilling life. Our advice is to take it.
